Summer evenings at Kensmyth, Clay Meadow

I love the evening feed time where the setting sun throws its dying rays across the backs of the Alpaca and makes their coats literally glow.

Heavily coated it will not be long before it is annual shearing time again..

Curly Coated Retrievers do moult at Kensmyth, Clay Meadow

I am often asked if our Curly Coats “shed” or “moult” a lot.. the honest answer is no they do not if you regularly brush them making them ideal for asthmatics etc. They are an outstanding guard dog and “hold” the people at bay without letting them pass which at 45kg per dog is incredible but are also loving loyal woofers.

As these dogs do not moult/shed much, the Spring into Summer and Autumn into Winter coats have to be physically got out – no Dog groomers here only me LOL..

So on in the sunshine, the two season moult had to be got out and boy was I exhausted after – house needing clean up too as you can see..

Covid 19 and Anaphylaxis Thank you NHS from Kensmyth, Clay Meadow

We have been very busy here at Kensmyth with the birthing season just around the corner.

What better time than to be invited for the Covid 19 inoculation. My friends had taken time to persuade me to have it due to my anaphylaxis. However the beautiful Cirencester Hospital was the destination and off I duly went.

The helpers, assistants staff and NHS were absolutely brilliant and calmly took on board the possibility of a reaction and had everything ready should there be problems.

Unfortunately immediately after having the inoculation (approx 3-4 minutes) I reacted violently and urgently needed the Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, ambulance and taking to Swindon Hospital.

Following all the necessary adrenaline, antihistamine, Oxygen and 6 hour Drip – I am fine.

I have to say a big thank you to the entire team working on me and saving my life.

Well done the NHS.

Beautiful Cirencester near Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow

I found out the other day that if you do not pay into certain Building Societies then they freeze your account, write to you (you may have moved as in my case) and then if no reply is received, the government then gives your money in that account to Charity. Only in cases where the person has died will you get it back. Be warned friends if you move to update accounts you had forgotten about..

hence visiting the beautiful Cirencester recently to sort that one out.. phew!

Silver Wedding at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow

Well it has been a long journey for us and we have moved farms four times in our twenty five years together so far. Our journey has been challenging and the last two years for us along with everyone but we are now Grandparents with three lovely sons and a granddaughter still living on our farm in the Cotswolds.

Thank you for the beautiful cake Mum and Dad..  and the lovely take away too!

Droning on at Kensmyth Alpaca Clay Meadow

well it is quite interesting looking at the world from above when it is your own property! Booked for Aerial shots and Drone footage with an expert “drone person” if that is what they are called, I was quite taken aback as how such a tiny piece of equipment can achieve so much..

the landing spot above.. below the synchronisation..

below – my in foal rare breed draught mare cared not a jot when it took off LOL

Happy Birthday sweet 24 at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow

Well somebody had their 24th Birthday recently and no Grandma available (Covid 19 shielding) to make the regular cake.. dilemma!

However, having a sweet tooth, I have to say that the Birthday Boy was ecstatic to receive his favourite “gummies” in the form of a “gummie” yummy cake.. bring it on..
