2021 Alpaca cria fun at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
I always enjoy watching the “cria run” at dusk but their playful antics always have me laughing..
Alpaca experiences at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
Well if you have never lead an Alpaca before..
or been up close to a very big horse, this is the place for you..
Changing coats at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
Well Fly – aka Kensmyth Kite Flyer – is changing his foal coat and currently looks like he is auditioning for a Mule. Not that I dislike Mules I hasten to add – I meant the colour.
This one has us all guessing – stay chestnut? go bay? go black? just look at those black legs coming, then the neck, the mane – liver chestnut maybe? watch and wait..
meantime – this five bar gate is six inches off the ground and he is on his way height wise!!
Summer sunsets at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
Beautiful sunsets are a sight to behold in the “big sky” open Cotswolds.. but noticeably (sadly) the nights are also getting darker quicker – no problem for the trusty Kubota with its night lights LOL
August 2021 at Kensmyth Alpaca Clay Meadow
Welcome August, let us hope the weather is more settled?
What better way to welcome August than a quick squizz at our beautiful stud boy Earl Grey
Hot days at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
With temperatures soaring, it is hardly surprising a black draught horse prefers to be in a cool barn..
Courgettes, Courgettes, Courgettes at Kensmyth, Clay Meadow – again
Well as if I did not have enough last year.. anyone for courgettes?
Make Hay whilst the sun shines at Kensmyth, Clay Meadow
With Haymaking happening all around in the hot weather, Kensmyth are no exception and we now have some 450 bales in store for the first draft of winter feeding..
Moody Skies at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
well the weather charts for Cirencester give a totally different outlook to the South Cerney ones..
Oak trees Acorns will fall soon at Kensmyth Alpaca, Clay Meadow
Well with all the rain then sun then heat, then rain then sun then heat – Trees are doing most bizarre things this year and the Oaks at Kensmyth are no exception.
Acorns are highly toxic so Alpaca adults and can choke cria so we are keeping a close eye on “action in the trees” in readiness for moving to new pastures away from any acorn falling sooner than previous years..
