just a quick warning to those who think all the Acorns have fallen – they have not yet and some are hanging on. Alpaca will not normally eat Acorns but the Cria will nibble at them and can choke. If there is no grass or food, hay etc, Alpaca will of course eat them and can die as a result. likewise with horses.. keep livestock out of fields when acorns are falling 

the title should read all kinds of everything because we are having such a fun time at Kensmyth this September its just crazy. It always brings a smile to my face when my Alpaca colour predictions turn out exactly how I want them to and with fleece quality guaranteed and our superb temperaments, what more can an Alpaca breeder want?

Many Alpaca owners love all Camelids and I am no exception. Many also know that a number of years ago I was given money to purchase a different kind of Camelid in the Camelid family. The Llama is a very different member of the Camelid to the Alpaca and many like one or the other and not many owners seem to like both. I have adored my LLamas for years and been a member of the Society almost as long as we have lived here but my Mum has been moaning at me that I never put photos up of them. Well its an Alpaca Blog I said to which she replied well Courgettes are not Alpaca are they?

Am I the only person tired of rehoming Courgettes and Apples? i have tried them every which way but I have so many frozen we would need an Arctic winter for me to need to make that much soup! Even the thought of stuffed marrow like my mum used to do just wont cut it now!

Well we were only allowed to reopen on 4th July and we wonder how long before new Covid restrictions or the weather means we will have to close for 2020. What a year but some great Alpaca experiences have been had by all despite Covid restrictions

Well all good things must come to an end and our lovely Kensmyth ponies needed something more to do in their third year, other than graze our lanes.

We found a super home for them “abroad” in Guernsey and after full examination and isolation they went to their new home and sunny sands.

It was very sad to say goodbye but you cannot keep them all.

Their new owner is super and sends me pictures of them enjoying their miniature friends in their new paddocks, a happy ending for these two and tears for us. 

Well Nature is providing us all with plenty of food and along with blackberries, apples, pears, courgettes we also have the baking of them to consider..
