Wonderful Cotswolds from Kensmyth Alpaca
I often say it but it is true – the Cotswolds is beautiful in Spring when the leaves change, leaves appear and the grass gets that green colour that you never seem to see abroad..
okay – so topping leaves dead grass but still beautiful and the lakes in this area are amazing..
Alpaca in fleece in Cold 2024 April temps at Kensmyth in the Cotswolds
I am so glad this year that our shearing was put back until later as the weather has been so unreliable. So the Alpaca have been a bit hot on the rare sunny days but perfectly happy in the cold nights and rain still..
You have to love a Rose Grey girl!
Little acorns at Kensmyth Alpaca in the Cotswolds
There is an age old saying ” do not cling to a mistake, just because you spent a long time making it” and my Palm Trees are no exception.
Grown from babies because I love the seaside, they have been transported from the last three farms but I decided it was time to go as they were so big they were back breaking to lift and huge!
Bye bye palm trees!
Few people realise that whilst easy to maintain – these babies grow into massive trees.
As children we called them “upside down pineapple trees” LOL
Happy Birthday sweet sixteen at Kensmyth Alpaca in the Cotswolds
Birthdays have never bothered me, I have been telling everyone I am nearly sixty for ten years but now I really am!
Amazing cards and pressies, thank you to you all.. just a few below but the handmade flowers crocheted from a friend who knows it is not a great idea to attract wasps into the home with real flowers are something else – big Thank You.
and the hand made card too..
difficult to show a 3D handmade card in a photo! Beautiful!
Plants and wildlife confused with the weather 2024
The alpaca stay in their shelters from the lashing wind and rain but it is warming up meantime but the plants and wildlife inevitably are confused.. never seen this Red Robin out so early!
April welcomed with more challenging weather for the alpaca at Kensmyth
April is finally here but the weather seems stuck in March!
How about a very big crumpet to make the weather blues go away?
Easter at Kensmyth Alpaca in the Cotswolds
Happy Easter to one and all. At least we are starting to see some Spring Flowers..
Car essentials when things go wrong
Well those of you following will know good old faithful the Landcruiser finally packed up and was replaced with a Mitsubishi Shogun Sport. Well, for a while at least!
I do not know if this was a “Friday afternoon car” for those of you old enough to remember or not but making a noise like a tractor is not a “normal” diesel engine sound.
You know it is not right when you have to go out and buy a breakdown car essentials kit for a 2021 vehicle!
that is a tool kit, triangles, jump leads, tow rope and warming blankets!
After 5 days in the garage made up of three separate visits one instinctively knew something was not right!
Mothers Day at Kensmyth Alpaca in the Cotswolds
Well with dreary wet weather, cold, wind and sometimes hail you have to wonder at the sanity of those people who mated so early last year that cria are being born now.. unless coated and barned, few will survive.
Happy thoughts for Mothers Day for everyone though with big smiley faces – so cute!
March 2024 comes in with a roar at Kensmyth, Clay Meadow in the Cotswolds
I spoke too soon, the weather continued with gales and heavy rain and more floods but what a difference a day makes and when the sunshine comes out!
The daffodils proudly showing off the (finally) latest Kensmyth farm vehicle.
Sorry folks, if you are expecting shiny sports car or treny Volvo XC90’s – look them up and see that they will not tow the skin off a rice pudding!
A farm vehicle needs to tow and one is being fitted shortly and this has the boot space required for carrying sheep and alpaca in the back too!
